The Expressions of Buffalo Grove High School are made up of 34 singers and dancers, a 10 member band and a crew of seven. Their success over the years has been a combination of talent, dedication and a willingness to work together. In addition to their dedication to the organization, the EXPRESSIONS are extremely active as leaders in other activities at Buffalo Grove High School. These include National Honor Society, Class Board, Peer Counseling, French and Spanish Honor Societies, the J. Kyle Braid Leadership program and the M.O.S.T. Mentoring Program. In athletics, they participate on numerous sports teams: soccer, volleyball, golf, cross-country, basketball, and track. Expression members are also featured as principal performers in the All-School Musical. The EXPRESSIONS again have been fortunate enough to have established a winning tradition through the years. In 1994, they placed 3RD at Onalaska, again receiving Best Choreography, were Grand Champion at the Mt. Zion, Illinois Competition and 1ST Runner-up in the Chicago Showstoppers Competition. 1995 saw the Expressions place 1ST Runner-up and received Best Choreograph at Onalaska, Grand Champion, Best Vocal and Best Choreography at Churbusco, Indiana and 4TH Runner-up at Showstoppers. In 1996, the Expressions were Grand Champions at Onalaska, receiving Best Choreography, Grand Champions at Millikin University, winning Best Vocals, Best Choreography and Best Band and 1ST Runner-up at Chicago Showstoppers. In 1997, they placed 1ST Runner-up at Onalaska, receiving Best Choreography, and 1ST Runner-up at Millikin, receiving Best Vocals. In addition to competitions, the Expressions entertain extensively in the Chicagoland area, including past performances at the Daley Center downtown and singing the National Anthem for the Cubs baseball team. In 1997, the EXPRESSIONS were very proud to be a part of the first Nashville Showstoppers Competition as the Honor Showcase Choir. In addition to performing at the opening and closing ceremonies, they presented two clinics for the competing groups and their directors. In 1998, the Expressions were 4th Runner-up at Onalaska, 1st Runner-up and Best Choreography at Millikin and Grand Champion at Belmont University also capturing Best Vocals and Best Band. In 1999, the Expressions received 1st Runner-up and Best Choreography at Onalaska, 4th Runner-up and Best Choreography at Huntington, IN and Grand Champion at the Showstopper National Invitational held in Nashville, TN, also capturing Best Music, Best Visual and Best General Effect. The 2000 Expressions were the Honor Choir at the Showstopper National Invitational at Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida. In 2001, the Expressions received 1st Runner-up and best Choreo
at Onalaska, 2nd runner-up and four of the top five soloists titles including Grand Champion at Anderson, and 3nd Runner Up, Best Band and Best Female
Vocalist in a Group at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. The 2002 Expressions earned 2nd Runner Up at Onalaska, Best Band, Grand Champion for soloist and 3rd Runner Up at Anderson and 2nd place at the
Showstoppers National Invitational at Disneyworld, Orlando, Florida. The 2003 Expressions were awarded 3rd Runner Up and Best Band At Onalaska, First Runner-up, Best Choreography and Best Stage Crew at Dekalb and
GrandChampion, Outstanding Combo, Best Visuals and Best Overall Effect at the Show Choir National Competition in Nashville. In 2004 The Expressions took 5th Runner Up at Onalaska, First Runner-up, and Best Band at the
Dekalb Show Choir Invitational and Grand Champion and Best Visual and Best General Effect at the 20th Anniversary ShowStoppers at the Oriental Theater in Chicago, Illinois. The Expressions in 2005 earned 1st Runner Up
at Onalaska, Second Runner Up at the Dekalb Show Choir Invitational and Second Runner Up at the 21st ShowStoppers Show Choir Invitational at Walt Disney World. The 2006 competition season proved to be most successful
for the Expressions. They were named Grand Champions at the Onalaska High School Show Choir Classic, as well as earning awards for Best Combo and Best Vocals. The Expressions were later named Grand Champions at
the DeKalb Invitational. At the Show Choir Nationals in Nashville, Tennessee the Expressions swept the event being named Grand Champions once again. Additionally, they were awarded Outstanding Choreography,
Outstanding Vocals, Outstanding Overall Effect, and the Combo Award in the Mixed Division Finals. In 2007, the Expressions were named 1st runner up and Best Combo at Onalaska. They were named Grand Champions and
Best Choreography at DeKalb and received 3rd runner up and Best Vocals at Showstoppers Show Choir Invitational at Disney World in Orlando, Florida |
